Barb Ennis
Specialist, Kitchen Coordination

Barb earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Muskingum University and taught Kindergarten in the Centerville School system for 25 years before joining the Fairhaven staff in 2009. Having attended Fairhaven for 20 years, Barb started volunteering by managing the kitchen for the Alpha ministry and eventually moved on to helping with Drop Inn meals and greeting and ushering. Now a part of the staff, Barb works in close association with other ministries needing food for their events and oversees the kitchen area in regards to volunteer coordination, supplies and equipment.

Barb and her husband Jim have been blessed with nine children: two girls (one deceased) and seven boys. Among her many hobbies, Barb enjoys fishing, boating, reading (especially by the ocean under an umbrella), antiquing and being with her family and 20 grandchildren. Barb's other passion is gardening, which eventually led to the beginning of a floral business, Flowers and Field, which she owned and operated for 10 years.

Why do you work at Fairhaven?
Serving in the kitchen is a ministry not a job. There is a joy in helping others have a desire to serve. They start by answering a call to serve. Then God develops their talents and gives them a servant's heart. I am grateful for the gifts God has given me and I can be a part of this process.

Your Faith:
I was raised in a Christian home. I took Christ into my life at an early age. Being an only child ,Christ was my best friend. I shared my problems and could ask Him for help when I didn't think my parents would understand. My parents guidelines for my life were "Love your neighbor as yourself" and "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I have always been involved in church work in some way.

Through my life's journey which has had some hard bumps, I've always depended on Christ. His answers weren't always the ones I wanted or expected. But He has always been true to His Word. "I will never leave you." After 5 years of being a single mom, God blessed me with a wonderful husband and a blended family of 8 children. Jim and I could always see God's direction in raising our family. We now have 20 grandchildren.

Our prayer is "Use us Lord. You have abundantly blessed us. We are your servants."

Life Passage:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
