What is outreach?

Outreach is simply calling others to Jesus. It's being committed to helping people find their way into vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and begin a life-long journey with God so that they are healthy, balanced and connected.

Why is outreach important?

Three simple reasons:

  1. Jesus is coming back.
  2. Hell is real.
  3. Jesus left us with a call.
The call is the Great Commission. The Great Commission was so important to Jesus that he repeated it five times in five different books of the New Testament. He did that so it would be clear to his disciples and to us.
Our Motive - John 20:21

"As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."

Our Model - Matthew 28:19

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"

Our Mandate - Mark 16:15,16

"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."

Our Message - Luke 24, 45-48

"Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things."

Our Mark - Acts 1:8

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

How can I reach out to others?

First of all, be a devoted follower of Jesus yourself. You can't call others to a life you're not living.

Second, focus on a few people. God has placed a few people in your life that are within your "reach." Pray for them. Genuinely love them. Look for ways to bring spiritual meaning to ordinary life. Look for opportunities to introduce them to the life of God you enjoy and experience.

Commit to praying on a regular basis:

  • Lord, help me to live completely and openly for you so that they see you in me.
  • Lord, help me to be aware of every opportunity to talk about faith in you.
  • Lord, help me to look for ways to invite them to be a part of my life so that thay will be exposed to grace through my words, actions and attitudes.

Commit to being intentional in inviting them to be a part of your life:

  • Extra ticket for a game
  • Go out to lunch, dinner or for coffee
  • Coach a team together
  • Watch a movie
  • Have your kids play together
  • Take a day trip together
  • Invite to be in a Bible study
  • Go to church together
  • Grill out!
