Acts – The Story Continues

Schwalm Chapel – Elective
Stephen Julian

The book of Luke ends with Jesus’ command to his disciples to remain in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes upon them – and then Jesus is gone. Acts is Luke’s second book. Here he picks up the story and tells us how the early believers in Jesus spread from Jerusalem throughout their known world. He focuses his attention on two main characters: Peter – the apostle to the Jews, and Paul – the apostle to the Gentiles. In Acts we see the early church experiencing phenomenal growth and incredible challenges, including economic pressures, political forces, judicial threats, as well as internal factions and disputes. This story is relevant to us as we live out the gospel within our community and work to evangelize all people groups in anticipation of Jesus’ second coming. Come, be part of the gospel story as it continues unfolding today!

Second Service 11:00 am

Power for Life and All Things Extraordinary

Lounges A & B – Ambassadors: 65+
Luke Tse

Jesus prayed for followers of all generations that all of us may be one just He and the Father are one (John 17:20-21). In his letter to the church in Ephesus, Paul has detailed this aspiration of Christ for oneness among the believers. This ongoing command for unity is not only a call for believers to put forth our best efforts, but it is also a proclamation of God's power in us to make it happen. Paul said, "I pray...that you may know...his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ" (Eph. 1:18-20). This study will highlight those conditions and relationships where God's power is to be realized.
