Quarterly Update
August 23-24, 2008

Prayer Points

  • For continued enthusiasm for our Vision
Praise for God’s favor with city planners and others regarding zoning regulations
  • For patience, flexibility and cooperation as construction disrupts normal church life around the building—let’s be willing to be “comfortably inconvenienced” in the months ahead
  • For a smooth process of bidding for General Contractors
  • For God to supply the means to fulfill each pledge
  • For expanded support for Imagine3:20 as God brings new people to our church family
  • For continued support of the Operating budget as we start the fall programs
  • For curious community residents to wonder, “What’s going on at Fairhaven Church?” and join us to find out what God is doing

Progress News

We met this week with Wacky World to finalize the design for the upstairs and downstairs children’s areas. We’re thrilled to show you this morning just a few artists’ concepts to give you a feel for the way things will look. Our children’s staff are excited about how this part of the project is coming together. So if Todd, Jim and Taylor are excited, imagine how excited your kids will be!

We’re pleased to report that all of the meetings we had with city officials have been resolved in our favor. In each meeting, with the help of our great architects, we were able to get decisions that help us contain costs, preserve our design intentions, while still adhering to zoning requirements that were important to city officials. Thanks so much for your prayers!

We expect to send out bid documents to five general contractors early next month. This is a departure from our original schedule, but could not be avoided given the city meetings and decisions that were required. Once the bids are back in, we can award the project and get started.

Upcoming Schedule Milestones

Giving

With total pledges of $6,600,000, we have received just over $1,500,000, or 23% of the total. We’re slightly behind schedule in our pledge fulfillment. Please be faithful to your commitment and as you are able, consider that accelerated pledge contributions will help to reduce the total cost of the project through interest income and future interest savings. Bless you!

If you have yet to make a pledge to Imagine3:20, we’d like to encourage you that it is not too late. We are praying that the gap between our pledges ($6,600,000) and the total estimated cost of the project ($8,000,000) would be bridged by additional commitments from those who either could not or did not respond back in November and those guests who are making Fairhaven their church home.
