NextGen has a middle school ministry where students will not only have fun but will grow in character and spiritual maturity. Students will get the opportunity to experience God’s incredible love for them in a way that is real, relevant, relaxed and relational.
On Sunday, September 12, during the 9:30 am service David Smith would like to recognize and affirm the incoming 6th graders as well as Kevin Batson by having them come up onto the platform. David will say a few words and then everyone will be dismissed. Once dismissed you can join your families for the rest of the service, but to make this a quick transition, we are asking all 6th grade students who would like to participate to sit in the first 3 rows on the far left of the sanctuary floor - behind David Smith. Any questions should be directed to Kevin Batson or Jane Piatt.

Welcome to Next Generation Ministries! Middle School is a whole new world full of new people, new schedules, weird situations and bizarre relationships. It is also a time of life when huge changes take place in a middle schooler's body, home, friendships, and brain. Becoming a 6th grader is one the most life-changing events for your child and we want to help come alongside you, the parent, to help make that process easier.
Crossroads (Every Sundays @ 11:15 am) - Middle school small group ministry - In a large group of people, it can be difficult to feel connected, to feel a part of things, and to find someone to talk about spiritual things. Students join groups that are gender and grade specific. So your 6th grader will have their very own small group. If they want to get deep about their relationships and where Jesus fits, they won't wanna miss Crossroads. August 8, 15, 22, 29, September 5, we are walking through a 5 week series called "Red". Small groups begin September 12.
Next Gen Band Training Camp (August 13 & 14) - If your 6th grader is interested in music, you will not want to miss this event. Contact for details.
Elevate (Starting September 8 Every Wednesday @ 7:00 pm) - It begins with a 3 week series "Surviving Middle School". Elevate is about seeing middle school students connect their lives with the way of Christ. We move to follow Christ through worship that engages, teaching that deepens, and serving that impacts middle school campuses. We have a blast in the process.
Fall Weekend @ Butler Springs (October 22-24) - Here are some things that we won't be doing: body tossing, bungie jumping, bingo night, & playing the accordion. Here are some things we will be doing: high ropes course, climbing tower, archery, filling our minds with God stuff, & chilling out. We will meet at Fairhaven at 5:45pm on Friday, October 22 and return at Noon on Sunday, October 24. Cost: $85
We are really excited about your student joining what God is doing in the Next Generation Ministry of Fairhaven Church. We believe the family is crucial to this transition and to raising students up as follower of Christ.

What are Middle School Ministry Small Groups?
Small Groups are for students in the 6, 7, & 8 grade. These groups are made up of 10 – 12 students (same grade and gender) that meet weekly with a caring adult leader.
Small Groups are a perfect place for students to form great friendships with other students their age, build relationships with adult leaders and learn more about God and grow closer to Him. Groups will be encouraged to establish accountability with each other, have consistent personal quiet times, get involved in ministry, and participate in service projects.
When and where do they meet?
Small Groups meet on Sunday Mornings during the 11:15 am service. We begin in the MAC and then split out to individual rooms.
What does a typical night look like?
A typical morning will look something like this: welcome / prayer or quiet time/ giving back to God (tithing)/intro to topic/split off into small groups/ Bible study / discussion / prayer.
Being involved in a Small Group will be an awesome time to grow closer to God; what better way to do that than by reading and studying the Bible? Studies include: prayer, following Jesus, making good decisions, purity, having healthy relationships, studying the Bible, dealing with temptation, living in godly community and more.
What about my leader?
Middle School has incredible, screened, and trained adult volunteers who are ready to serve and teach middle school students. Our Middle School leaders are there to encourage, teach, guide, and help strengthen students walk with Christ. It may turn out to be the most significant relationship of a student’s middle school years.
What is the Small Group Commitment?
Being part of a Small Group is a privilege. We expect each Small Group member to commit to the following:

Being in middle school is hard but being the parent of a middle schooler can be even harder. Surviving Middle School "Parent's Edition" is a chance for parents to talk, not just about middle school ministry, but to talk about this time of life for your child. It is a small group format that serves as a discussion forum for middle school parents. This is a monthly event, not a weekly commitment but you can sign up to come more than once. Please RSVP through Jane Piatt and she will give you directions. Space will be limited to ten people.
Sunday's at 9:30 am in Room 010
