As a member of Fairhaven's Middle School Ministries program, we want to encourage students in a lifelong pursuit to grow in their faith. These "Habits" are derived from scripture and provide a simple straight forward pattern for believers who want to become more mature, obedient followers of Christ.

We define a growing Christian as:
Someone who honors and worships God regularly
We want our students to say what David said in Psalm 100:2—Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy.
In John 4:24, Jesus gives two important requirements to worship—God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
Someone who grows through healthy spiritual habits
We want students to become more like Christ.
2 Timothy 2:2 — And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.
Someone who discovers his/her ministry
We believe that students aren't just the future of the church, but the present church and should experience the joys of participating in ministry.
Matthew 20:26-28 — ...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Someone who connects with people by sharing their lives
We believe that the Student Ministries at Fairhaven are more than just teaching facts and truth. We share our lives and invest in relationships without worrying about the return.
1 Thessalonians 2:8 — We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.
Someone who reaches out to nonbelieving friends
We expect our students to shine bright and develop a heart for their lost friends, pray for them and bring them to appropriate church programs.
Matthew 9:12-13 — Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
