Senior Adults Ministry

Retired and taking it easy? Hardly. Our Senior Adults are on the go and spread throughout the many programs and ministry opportunities at Fairhaven. Of course, they also enjoy doing things together and are loosely divided in two groups:

Ambassadors
New Horizons

Leadership teams for both groups plan a variety of trips and social activities. Sometimes the two groups operate independently and sometimes they join together. But always they are valued members of the intergenerational family that makes up Fairhaven.

Drop INN

Looking for old-fashioned hospitality? You'll find it right here at Fairhaven during Drop Inn, which takes place on the second Monday of the month from September to May (except December). Drop Inn is a senior adult community that offers a variety of stimulating activities and inspirational programs and is open to the public.

We start you off with coffee and pastries, and then let you choose among a variety of activities that appeal to your interests. Every month features a unique, special program to inform, entertain or inspire you. And we end with a delicious meal cooked right here in our kitchen. Cost for lunch is only $4.00 unless it happens to be your birthday month—then it's FREE! No sign-up or registration is required. Just Drop-in to Drop INN.

Attention Hymn singing Lovers! This year we've added something new. Music with Marge involves 30 minutes of singing all your favorite, traditional hymns accompanied by the piano.

Sonshiners

Reflecting God's Light to Nursing Care Centers

Not too long ago, their lives were similar to yours. People from all walks of life with hopes, dreams and plans for the future. You may have passed them on the street, encountered them in business, and even sat next to them in church. Now, for one reason or another, they live in an assisted living or nursing care facility—nearly 2 million of them. Another 60 million are on the way. Many will spend their last days there. And they often wonder if anyone cares. Jesus does. Do you?

The Fairhaven Sonshiners strive to reflect the light of God's love to this forgotten segment of our population. Currently, we minister at Brighton Gardens in Centerville once a month. As doors continue opening, we're looking for those who would open their hearts as volunteers to walk with us on this journey of faith. No experience or particular skills are necessary. Just a desire to serve and a willingness to be faithful.
