Known as the GEMs (God's Exceptional Miracles) program, the Special Needs Ministry of Fairhaven Church is dedicated to serving people with disabilities and their families. We believe that individuals with disabilities are cherished gifts from God, that they will teach us lessons that we may never learn without their presence, and that the Church has a responsibility to love, teach and minister to this special group of people.
It is a privilege and a direct call from God to reach out to those with special needs because this ministry represents the very heart of God, which is loving others. One of the major aspects of Christ's ministry on earth was His outreach to children and to people who had disabilities. That is why we are committed, not just to serving these individuals, but to empowering them to become vital members of the body of Christ.

A special needs "Shepherds" Sunday School class, offered Sundays at 9:15 am, to high school and young adults. This class attends the adult service in the Sanctuary for worship and music. Members of this class leave the adult service at approximately 10 am, following the praise and worship time, and meet in Room 010 downstairs for a half-hour Bible lesson.
Summer Meetings will be on July 10 and August 7
A prayer coffee and support group for mothers of children with special needs. This group of women meets one Saturday morning a month either at a restaurant or at someone's home. The mothers are committed to praying for and encouraging one another as they care for their child with special needs that God has given to them. The group is open to anyone with a special needs child, regardless of their child's age or disability.
