It’s your choice.
Whirlwind of Life
There was a man in the Old Testament named Job, whose life suddenly took a dramatic turn toward pain and sorrow. Job was confronted with the choice between trusting God and getting lost in his own anguish. Job’s dilemma is common to all of us. Whirlwinds will come into our lives at unexpected times and catch us unprepared. In a split moment, we can be torn between trusting in God’s love and kindness, and frantically searching for our own way. What does God say to us in times like these?
Taking Refuge in a Word from God:
“It’s your choice.”
You can run from me, or you can run to me. I’m your Father who loves you. I will care for you as a Shepherd cares for his sheep, and I am the watchful Father waiting for his prodigal to return. I will not force myself upon you, but rather invite you to find your strength and safety in my love.
Our Firm Foundation
It’s your choice. The Bible teaches that God does not overwhelm our ability to make choices. When times are tough, he invites us to come to his throne of grace and find that all of our needs can be met in him. Yet we can also choose to run from God and try to find help in other places, none of which have the power to satisfy our soul or solve our problems. In order to have unshakable faith, the first choice we must make is whether to trust our lives to Jesus Christ as Savior. With that choice as our great foundation, we can then choose to run to God when the whirlwinds of life burst upon us.
