Worship & Fine Arts

At Fairhaven Church it is our desire and intention to worship Christ in every aspect of our lives. We view this as our corporate opportunity to "Love God Back" as a community of Christ-followers. We also understand the importance “to praise God in His sanctuary”, as the psalmist says, and to encourage each other through the love we show. Every weekend we have opportunity to experience what it means to come into the presence of a Living God, by giving him our very selves in praise.

Our worship venues are Ignite, Saturdays at 6:00 PM; Classics, Sundays at 8:00 AM; and Fusion, Sundays at 9:30 and 11:15 AM. Please visit our Services page for more information.

Ministry Opportunities

Auditioned Groups
Ascent Band and Singers

The Ascent Band and Singers are an auditioned group who serve on a rotating basis in each of the Fairhaven Worship Venues. Auditions for these groups take place in August/September and January. More information about the audition process will be posted here as the audition dates draw closer. Rehearsals for this group depend on the worship experience where they are serving and the amount of time on rotation.

Worship Orchestra

The Worship Orchestra is an auditioned group of instrumentalists who rehearse weekly from 6:30 to 8:30 on Thursday evenings and serve from September to June in the Fusion services with occasional participation in Classics. Auditions for this group will take place in August/September and January. The audition requires the instrumentalist to play something of their own choosing and to attempt to sight read one of the worship songs we regularly do.

Non-Auditioned Groups
Worship Choir

The Worship Choir serves in both Fusion services from the months of September to June with occasional participation in Classics. An informational meeting for this group will take place in August/September and January. A smaller group of singers, comprised from the choir, sing at the Classic’s Venue. Worship Choir is also open to new members during the entire ministry year and is a great way to 'get your feet wet' in the Worship and Fine Arts Ministry. The worship choir is dedicated to leading the congregation in many different styles of worship through anthems and special numbers, weekly worship music, and participation in special events. Rehearsals for this group take place on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30, and Classics from 8:30 to 8:45 PM, with occasional extra rehearsals for special events.

The Academy

  • Auditioned Groups
  • The Academy worship band program allows students the opportunity to learn to lead in worship while they continue to refine their musical skills. Auditions are held in August and January.
  • Students will be placed in different bands based on their skill level. Each band will have the opportunity to work with an adult worship leader to help the students to develop as musicians and worship leaders. Participation in The Academy also requires students to participate with the Fairhaven Worship Choir at some level. As students progress, they may be asked to participate in bands for Elevate, Uprising, or other Worship Experiences.

For more information, please contact in the church office (937-434-8627 ext. 113).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Worship & Fine Arts?

Worship & Fine Arts covers anything you see in a service that is not the message. All of the music, video drama, decoration, technology, and service planning for all of the worship environments comes from the Worship and Fine Arts Department.

Don’t you have enough volunteers?

Our church and our ministries are expanding, and we need more volunteers to support them.

Aren’t the people on the platform professionals with formal musical training?

What a nice compliment, but no. The people you see on the platform are primarily volunteers who have regular every day jobs. They are teachers, insurance men, technicians, doctors, and all other sorts of professions who love to worship the Lord with their talent.

What if I don’t have much time?

Depending on what part of the ministry you are interested in, there are varying levels of commitment. From the open choir which only meets once a month to some volunteers who are here three days a week each week, we can help you to find the right level of involvement for you. If you feel a calling to this ministry, we will do what we can to help you to be involved.

I have small kids. What do I do with them?

If you have the family childcare pass, childcare is provided for your children through kindergarten. On rehearsal nights, childcare is also provided for your children through age 10.

There are so many songs. How do I remember all of that music?

We have a website where you can go with a password and listen to the music before rehearsals and services. Once you join our ministries, you will be given access to this site.

What if I think of another question later?

Please feel free to contact at 937-434-8627 ext. 122 any time with your questions. If he doesn’t have the answer, he will connect you with someone who does.
